The Calabash
Grown, not manufactured.
This is a real fruit. It grew on a tree in northern Ghana, was cut, hollowed, cleaned and dried in the sun until the shell hardened into something you could pass down. West African kitchens have used calabash for centuries, for water, for grain, for shea butter, for drums. It works because it breathes and stays cool, which is exactly what raw butter wants.
Every single one is different. Yours will vary in size, in depth, in color. Some are pale sand, some closer to leather brown. Most carry spots, streaks, or faint marks where the shell grew against a branch. That is not a flaw in the finish, that is the fruit remembering where it came from. If you want identical, buy plastic.
Fill it with your Shea butter and put it somewhere you can see it. A bowl like this on a bathroom shelf does something a jar cannot.
